It comes in a few different forms, but for streaming the two we will focus on are CBR (Constant Bitrate) and ABR (Average Bitrate). It’s basically how the software controls the amount of information (Bits) that is being encoded. “Rate Control” is pretty easy to explain. Other settings that affect your Bitrate are Rate Control and Keyframe Interval. Now if your upload speed is astronomically high, I would recommend just setting it to 4000 as a max. every 1000 bits (Bitrate) is one (1) Megabit (MB), so if your upload speed is 4MBps your Bitrate should be 3500-4000Bps. (I recommend ) Doing this will show you your upload speed. The best way to determine Bitrate settings is to do an internet speed test. If you set your bitrate too high, viewers with a spotty internet connection won’t be able to watch your stream, potentially halving your audience. Does that mean you should set it to 6000? No. Twitch can only handle Six Thousand (6000) MBps. What this does, is it determines how much information (In MBps), to send to Twitch. Once you do that, you will be looking to adjust your “Bitrate”. If you have a 10xx series GPU or newer, ALWAYS go NVENCnew. The difference is that it uses a new processing method that is far superior to the old version. The third encoder (NVENCnew) is the same as the second. While GPUs are MUCH better at encoding than CPUs, you also still need a lot of your GPU to play your games, especially fast paced FPS or Battle Royale games.

What this encoder does is have your GPU do the encoding for you. Which is a good choice if you have a really good CPU with a higher core/thread count.
